CHAPTER NINETEEN

Dr. Lee came into the exam room and studied his patient. It was hard to believe this was the man who had been missing for weeks. His patient looked healthy and strong. He had survived a shotgun wound and the person who had attended to those wounds had manage to remove the lead, stop the bleeding, and prevent infection. Aaron still had some nerve damage but for the most part he was physically healing normally. Dr. Lee was worried about Aaron mentally. He had extreme memory loss and had been experiencing nightmares and fear of an attack of some sort. Had it not been for the old man that had rescued him, he wouldn't even know his own father. He jumped every time somebody moved. The woman who'd held him hostage was crazy as hell and had tried to escape the psych unit several times. For someone so beautiful, she sure had issues. Dr. Lee wondered what her problem was. He also wondered who had tried to murder his patient.

The man in the exam room, Kane had to keep reminding the patient that he was his father. The mother was out of town and wasn't able to be notified at the time.

“Hey, Doc,” Aaron greeted him.

“Hi Aaron. How are you feeling?”

“I feel great. Can I go now?”

“I think you should stay one more day for observation.”

“Why? Is there something wrong with me?”

“No. Just some minor neurological damage and unusual brain activity. I'd like to refer you to a specialist and a therapist.”

“I don't need no special treatment. I'll just take my prescription and be on my way.” Aaron looked behind him the way he'd been doing all day.

“Son. The Doc is right,” Kane said. I think it would be wise for you to stay. I'm going to have some of the fellas camp out at this hospital to ensure you don't have any problems. Try not to worry. You're in good hands.”

Aaron hated the pain killers they had him on. They were so strong, he couldn't stay awake. The horrific nightmare of begging for his life, then being blasted with a shotgun recurred over and over. The gory sight of lying in a puddle of blood and the pain of having the bullets removed invaded his mind. He often woke up moaning. He reached for his phone and turned on some music to drown out the evil dreams. Instantly the song that came on 'Love's Taken Over, by Chante Moore,' soothed him. He put it on repeat and slept like a baby.

He woke up to the phone ringing and cursed the person who ripped him out of the dream of him making passionate love to the beautiful singer. His dick was at full attention as he reached for the phone. As soon as he heard the person on the other end, he went limp and the image of the lovely songbird was replaced by his gruesome captor. "I'm having your baby," Leigh announced before breaking into a sinister laugh.
